Engineering industry is set to boom

Integra People is welcoming the recent news that the UK’s engineering industry is set to soar.

Data published by the Association of Professional Staffing Companies (APSCo) has revealed that projects such as HS2 and Crossrail have increased the number of job vacancies by 53% year-on-year.

A recent survey has shown that over the past year the engineering recruitment industry has thrived, with firms confirming on average a 29% increase of vacancies available.

The boom in engineering has also seen a rise in engineering Apprenticeships as companies plan to train their future workforce. But the UK could miss out on £27bn if not enough people are trained as 180,000 trained engineers are required every year to cope with the workload.

The West of England has the most thriving and vibrant engineering economy, with many businesses taking on more and more work.

David Lewis, Managing Director at Integra People, said: “This is great news for us and the industry.

“The news shows that the UK is really thriving since the recession. Here at Integra People, we have seen an increase in the number of engineering projects.

“We are always looking for more skilled professionals to register with us to have the opportunity to work on these exciting projects.”
