#notjustforboys – new campaign backs women in all career industries

A study has shown that UK women are getting into work faster than any other country in Europe, but a new campaign ‘#notjustforboys’ has highlighted the lack of women in what seems as ‘men only’ professions.

The campaign encourages business and young people to back women to get high-powered jobs or enter industries which are typically male dominated.

These industries include banking, construction, IT, broadcasting and business. The campaign aims to demonstrate that whilst gender equality in the workplace has come a long way, there are still some areas that need to be improved before full equality is reached.

Recent research reveals there are likely to be around 12 million job opportunities open up in the UK over the next decade, and despite women now choosing to work in record numbers, they are still underrepresented in many of the UK’s jobs growth areas.

Many large organisations are backing this campaign including Unilever, Asda, Nestle and National Rail.

Since 2010, the UK has seen a record breaking number of women head back to work, with 14.4million more women in work. Over 3,500 women a week are going back to work, an increase of 68.2%. Around 80% of this growth of female employment in the past four years has been in managerial, professional and technical professions.

David Lewis, Managing Director at Integra People said: “We operate and provide skilled candidates in what are traditionally male dominated industries. We are fully committed to employing the best skilled workers which is never discriminated on gender. We fully back this campaign and believe it will prove every success”.
