To operate plant machinery such as dumper trucks, you will need to be aged 18 plus and hold a valid driving licence.
Most building firms require you to have either a Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card, SKILLcard or SCOREcard to work on a building site. This is proof that you have the required skills and qualifications to carry out the work.
Working in the construction industry also gives people the option to do contracting work and work in different locations around the country.
