Construction industry set for continual growth

The future looks bright for the construction industry as experts predict four more years of solid growth.

In 2015, construction output is forecast to grow a record 4.9 per cent due to a boost driven by a 10 per cent rise in commercial construction.

Growth in the industry is expected to last, with 22 per cent output growth up to 2019 due to an extra £27 billion of spending.

The increase is due to strong growth in private housing building and civil engineering.

David Lewis, Group Managing Director at Integra People, said: “The prospects for the construction industry are very positive and there is a lot of confidence in the marketplace.

“There are a lot of opportunities for construction workers to find work and this is only set to rise.

“We are encouraging young people to consider construction for a career as the increase in demand may lead to a skills shortage unless there is an influx of younger skilled workers entering the industry.”
