The appointment of Amber Rudd as the new Secretary of State for the Department of Energy and Climate Change is set to drive forward the sector.
Rudd’s new position has gained approval from green businesses and campaigners.
Before gaining her new post, Rudd was the Climate Change Minister for a year and has been an MP since 2010. Her past career includes being an investment banker and successful businesswoman.
Rudd is known as a driver of change and her plans are to protect the environment as part of her long- term economic plan for job and growth. She is keen to maximise on home grown energy sources rather than relying on imports, meaning the job market in the sector will be boosted.
One of Rudd’s pledges is to support the continued expansion of household solar panels. Currently in the UK, 640,000 houses have solar panels installed and this is only set to rise.
